This is one of the many dog decoys that litter the lawns of some buildings in Hackensack, New Jersey that I pass on the bus ride home. I think it sends a mixed message. First of all, I didn’t know dogs could read (sign says, “NO!”). Second of all, since the doggie decoy is squatting to poop, wouldn’t a real dog mimic his fake brethren’s behavior? It only makes sense. And another thing, isn’t positive reinforcement more effective? I suppose the sign is intended for the owners, but don’t they already know their dogs aren’t supposed to unload on neighboring lawns?
What do you think? Any bad signage in your neck of the woods?
