Inglorious Rage

(google image)

Nobody likes an angry woman

she’s unbecoming in the worst way

a primal scream can’t cure

an uncontrollable rage

it frightens me

how deep it is

rooted in me

like an ancient tree

I want it to go away

but somehow, I don’t

It lets me know I am still

alive

and that you matter so much,

and that you will never go away

  1. So well-done, as always. I also found myself relating to that idea of an anger that can’t go away. I like your reasoning for it – it makes me at once understand your story, and look deeper into myself. I feel like all good poems do that. Thank you for this. I’m also glad to read that you’re writing down the good stuff to remember, too. Hang in there.
